With a cold airmass in place, along with a strong trough crossing the area, heavy lake effect snow fell across portions of western and north central New York. The heaviest snowfall occurred east/northeast of both the Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
Notable snowfall amounts reports included: 50.9 inches in Copenhagen, 50.5 inches in Black River, 43.3 inches in West Seneca, 28.5 inches in Orchard Park, 21.3 inches in Pembroke, 20.7 inches in Orwell, 16.5 inches in Varysburg and 16.2 inches in Constableville.
