A system advancing northward brought with it a surge of high winds through the morning hours of January 27. The Skagway airport measured a peak gust of 63 mph at 412am and a peak gust of 60 mph was measured at the boat harbor at 1153am.

A developing low moving northward brought a surge of high winds and upper elevation snow through Skagway as advancing warm air moved up from the south.
