Heavy snow fell throughout Union County during the duration of the storm. The COOP observer in Maynardville recorded an event total of 9 inches of snow. Additionally, a trained spotter south of Maynardville recorded 8.3 inches of snow with a fine glaze of ice, and another spotter measured 6.4 inches of snow in Sharps Chapel.

Wider weather episode

A major snowstorm powered by strong upper level dynamics and widespread preexisting low level cold produced heavy snowfall across East Tennessee.
