Heavy snow under a persistent convergence zone resulted in near white-out conditions at Stevens Pass causing the pass to close for several hours. Snow rates exceeded 2/hour at times. An avalanche sensor near the pass indicated 12 inches of snow since noon.

Wider weather episode

A passing Arctic Front brought periods of heavy snow and low visibilities to the area to portions of the Eastern Washington.
