Event narrative

The Teton valley had blizzard conditions for the entire morning of the 12th for over 8 hours at the Botts mesonet site with visibility below a quarter mile and winds gusting in the 50 to 60 mph range. The heavy snow and wind gusts closed both Idaho State Highways 32 and 33 due to the blowing and drifting snow and near zero visibility. Teton County School District 401 was closed for the day.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front moved through Idaho with snow, strong winds which caused blizzards in several zones and extensive travel problems. Many roads closed with wind gusts exceeding 50 mph in nearly all of southeast Idaho.
