Event narrative

Visibility below 1/4 mile with 30 to 40 mph wind gusts occurred 5 miles west southwest of Victor at the RWIS site on State Highway 31. The highway was shut down due to the blowing and drifting snow. A spotter measured 12.8 inches of snowfall 4 miles west of Victor. Teton School District 401 was closed due to the blizzard.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front moved through Idaho with snow, strong winds which caused blizzards in several zones and extensive travel problems. Many roads closed with wind gusts exceeding 50 mph in nearly all of southeast Idaho.
