Event narrative

Teton County Idaho Search and Rescue reported a skier was badly injured in an avalanche that occurred between Idaho Highway 33 and Mount Oliver. 23 team members responded including three K9 teams. Patient was found and transported via ambulance with significant upper extremity, facial injuries and head trauma.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front moved through Idaho with snow, strong winds which caused blizzards in several zones and extensive travel problems. Many roads closed with wind gusts exceeding 50 mph in nearly all of southeast Idaho.
