An upper-level system moved across the region, bringing a couple of disturbances across the northern Plains. Accumulating snowfall with the first disturbance was mainly confined to the central and southern Black Hills on the 30th. A stronger disturbance moved across the area on the 31st into April 1st, and with colder air in place, produced a more widespread area of accumulating snowfall. Amounts of 2 to around 6 inches were common across much of western and south-central South Dakota, with at least localized higher amounts to around 10 inches from southwest into portions of south-central South Dakota.
