A range of 2 to 4 inches of snow fell in eastern Preston County the evening of February 12th to early morning hours of February 13th.

A low pressure system, originating from the south, moved into the New England region between February 12th and 13th. It reached its strongest point after moving offshore over the Atlantic Ocean. As the system moved through, lower lying areas saw rain. However, in higher elevations, there was a rapid change to snow as cold, dry air moved in and absorbed moisture. The heaviest snowfall reported was 7.2 inches. The snow was wet and dense, with some areas in Preston County receiving up to 0.50 inches of liquid equivalent precipitation.
