Blizzard conditions developed in Nome the early in the afternoon of the 21st and continued into the evening. Nome reported a peak wind gust of 47 mph during the event.

A front associated with an area of low pressure in the Bering Sea brought snow, strong winds and blizzard conditions as it moved north over the west coast of Alaska on February 21st.
