Event narrative

Blizzard conditions developed the evening of the 20th and continued through the early afternoon of the 21st. Atqasuk reported a peak wind gust of 47 mph during the event.

Wider weather episode

A strong area of high pressure over the Arctic Ocean combined with an area of low pressure moving northward through the Bering Sea brought strong winds and blizzard conditions to the North Slope.
