Drought in Koochiching, Minnesota

D2 Severe Drought conditions persisted through the month across the southwestern corner of the county. Precipitation for the month was slightly below normal over most of the county with a tiny area of near to slightly above normal precipitation in the far western reaches of the county.

D2 Severe Drought conditions persisted across parts of Koochiching, Itasca, Cass, Crow Wing and Aitkin counties during February. No change in the area of D2 Severe Drought was observed through the month. Precipitation for the month ended up below normal over most of the area aside from slightly above normal levels in the Brainerd Lakes area. Snowfall was around 10 to 20 inches below normal for the month leading to very little snow cover being observed through the month and noticeably dry conditions persisted throughout.
