The Star Ridge SNOTEL measured 6 inches of new snow in a 14 hour period ending at 1800 on Jan. 13th. A Public report from Prairie City indicated 20 inches of storm total snow had fallen at 2200 on Jan. 13th. A public report from 6 miles east of Prineville indicated 7.5 inches of storm total snow at 2300 on Jan. 13th.
Wider weather episode
A series of winter systems starting with a strong arctic front followed by an upper level trough brought heavy snow accumulations and very cold temperatures across the mountains and many lower elevation locations across northeast Oregon and southeast Washington between Jan. 10th and the 14th.
