Event narrative
A trained spotter 6 miles west of Condon measured 7 inches of storm total snow at 2145 PST on Jan. 13th. A public report from Lexington indicated 7 inches of storm total snow had fallen at 2200 PST on Jan. 13th. A public report from Heppner indicated 7 inches of new snow had fallen at 2300 PST on Jan. 13th.
Wider weather episode
A series of winter systems starting with a strong arctic front followed by an upper level trough brought heavy snow accumulations and very cold temperatures across the mountains and many lower elevation locations across northeast Oregon and southeast Washington between Jan. 10th and the 14th.
