Event narrative

Generally 5 to 10 inches of snow fell across the area with locally higher amounts up to 15 inches at Steamboat 1.9 E.

Wider weather episode

A closed low moved into the Four Corners region, producing favorable lift for snowfall in the Southwest Colorado mountains and valleys. Lingering northwest flow behind the system favored continued snowfall for the Uncompahgre Gorge in the Northwest San Juan Mountains as well as upslope snowfall in the Elkhead and Park Mountains and Upper Yampa River Basin well after the low exited to the east.
