The first in a series of disturbances associated with a strong jet across the north tracked across northwest Colorado, producing moderate snowfall and strong winds favoring the northwest Colorado mountains and Upper Yampa River Basin. This strong jet across the north was associated with a deep trough that allowed an arctic air mass to drop southward across much of Colorado and areas east.
