A broad area of low pressure deepened as it drifted between eastern Nebraska, Iowa and then into Wisconsin before then moving east. This system spread moisture north into west central Minnesota, initially as a rain snow mix before transitioning to accumulating snowfall. A multi-day accumulation of 11 inches was measured by the COOP observer 2 miles east southeast of Artichoke, and 8 inches was observed 1 mile north of Ortonville. In addition to the snowfall, winds across west central Minnesota topped out around 45 mph.
