Event narrative

A public report from the west side of Bend indicated that 7 inches of new snow had already fallen at 1558 PST on Jan. 13th. A public report from Culver indicated 9 inches of new snow had fallen by 2300 PST on Jan. 13th. Many reports across central Oregon indicated that snow accumulations were between 7 to 10 inches.

Wider weather episode

A series of winter systems starting with a strong arctic front followed by an upper level trough brought heavy snow accumulations and very cold temperatures across the mountains and many lower elevation locations across northeast Oregon and southeast Washington between Jan. 10th and the 14th.
