Event narrative

The northeast portion of the zone started in Exceptional(D4) drought with Extreme(D3) elsewhere. The entire zone finished the month in Extreme(D3) drought. The Antelope Wells Cooperative Observer reported 0.72 inches of precipitation which was 0.29 inches above normal.

Wider weather episode

Above normal precipitation for much of southern New Mexico helped ease the drought conditions to at least Grant, Sierra and Otero counties.
