Event narrative

The entire zone started in Extreme(D3) drought but improved to Severe(D2) drought by the end of the month. The Cooperative Observer in Cloudcroft reported 2.85 inches of precipitation which was 1.16 inches above normal.

Wider weather episode

Above normal precipitation for much of southern New Mexico helped ease the drought conditions to at least Grant, Sierra and Otero counties.
