The entire zone started the month in Extreme(D3) drought, but the northern half improved to Severe(D2) drought by the end of the month.

Wider weather episode

Above normal precipitation for much of southern New Mexico helped ease the drought conditions to at least Grant, Sierra and Otero counties.
