The entire zone started the month in Severe(D2) drought but improved to Moderate(D1) drought on February 20th. The Hillsboro Cooperative Observer reported 0.99 inches of precipitation which was 0.57 inches above normal.

Wider weather episode

Above normal precipitation for much of southern New Mexico helped ease the drought conditions Sierra County.
