Wider weather episode
An area of surface low pressure tracked NE from the Lower Mississippi Valley to the eastern Great Lakes region while intensifying into a strong low, dragging a cold front through our region. The tight surface pressure gradient over our region resulted in peak wind gusts around 40 to 50 mph over most areas, with some higher peak gusts in a few locations. The winds resulted in many reports of downed trees. Some of the trees fell on homes. Some injuries occurred.
