Event narrative

Significant snowfall fell in the Pocatello/Chubbuck area in the morning with measured amounts of 3 to 5 inches which all fell in a 3 and a half hour period. For that period snow was falling at a rate of an inch or slightly higher than an inch per hour. Roads became snow and slush covered with a NWS employee witnessing several slide offs in the south part of town.

Wider weather episode

Over a foot of snow fell in many mountain regions with lesser amounts in the valleys over 2 to 3 days.
