Wider weather episode
A deep upper low centered over the Plains pushed a cold front eastward toward central Illinois during the evening of April 16th. A pre-frontal trough interacting with a very warm and seasonably moist airmass triggered scattered strong to severe thunderstorms as it pushed into east-central Illinois. A few of the cells produced minor wind damage and hail as large as nickels in Vermilion and Edgar counties.
