What EF1 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF1 is moderate damage: roofs badly stripped, mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned, windows broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 86–110 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

The tornado touched down in an inaccessible marshy timberland in

northeastern Clinch County southeast of the Cogdell Community,

uprooting and snapping several trees as it moved parallel to and

just south of Camp Branch Road. The tornado then moved into Ware

county with additional tree damage noted as it crossed old manor

Millwood Road just east of the county line.

The wider storm

High moisture content and the entire area in the warm sector ahead of an approaching pre-frontal squall line produced strong to severe storms and a couple of tornadoes.

Began near Cogdell (31.1551, -82.6736).
