The Kentucky Mesonet station on top of Black Mountain in Harlan County measured a wind gust of 57 mph.

A cold front moved through eastern Kentucky during the morning hours of February 28. Strong winds aloft were able to mix down to the surface with the storms that formed along the boundary, leading to numerous trees down and high wind gusts across much of eastern Kentucky.
