Event narrative

Due to icy road conditions, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) closed I-84 between Troutdale and Hood River, Oregon for about 31 hours ending about 2100 PST on the 17th. Ice accumulation of 0.25 to 1 inch.

Wider weather episode

The cold air mass remained in place from the initial arctic air mass with freezing temperatures continuing. Bouts of precipitation brought more freezing rain, snow as well.
