Event narrative
Large tree limb snapped at Penn State Behrend Campus in Erie, PA area.
Wider weather episode
Northwest PA resided in a warm and very humid air mass during the late morning through early evening of the 6th as a cold front approached slowly from the western Great Lakes. A line of multicell thunderstorms persisted eastward along a pre-front surface trough axis and generated localized straight-line convective wind damage in the Erie area as the storms encountered moderate MUCAPE, DCAPE, and effective bulk shear, respectively, in northwest PA.
