Wider weather episode

Strong winds mixed down to the surface from a maximum within the subtropical jet. This resulted in strong, gusty winds across our forecast area. Shortly after, an upper-level trough moved down from the Pacific Northwest. The two systems merged and led to strong wind and snow over and near higher terrain.
