Event narrative

Several SNOTEL stations including Cascade Mountain, Mill-D North, and Atwater recorded 1.9 to 4.0 inches of snow water equivalent, resulting in approximately 18 to 54 inches of snow. Additionally, some reports received from the snow safety community include 39 inches of snow at Alta - Collins, 37 inches of snow at Brighton - Crest, and 25 inches of snow at Park City Mountain. Wider weather episode

A cool season system impacted the area late in March and resulted in an unsettled period of weather and moderate snow accumulations for many high elevation locations around Utah. This system was characterized by an initial digging shortwave which then left the area in a broader unsettled longwave trough with embedded impulses, which triggered multiple rounds of precipitation over the course of several days.
