Heavy Snow in Western Uinta Mountains, Utah

Heavy Snow March 23, 2024 – March 27, 2024 · Western Uinta Mountains, Utah

What the National Weather Service wrote

Several SNOTEL stations including Hewinta, Lily Lake, and Redden Mine Lwr recorded 0.9 to 2.9 inches of snow water equivalent, resulting in approximately 12 to 36 inches of snow.

The wider storm

A cool season system impacted the area late in March and resulted in an unsettled period of weather and moderate snow accumulations for many high elevation locations around Utah. This system was characterized by an initial digging shortwave which then left the area in a broader unsettled longwave trough with embedded impulses, which triggered multiple rounds of precipitation over the course of several days.
