Event narrative

Lots of quarter size hail fell. The hail is covering the ground, with lots of tree limbs down as well.

Wider weather episode

A potent system moved through the southern half of NC during the afternoon and evening hours, with thunderstorms becoming severe as they moved through the southern Piedmont of NC, and into the southern coastal plain counties, all the way to the coast through mid evening. Most of the severe reports were from thunderstorm winds, but isolated severe hail fell as well.
