Multiple mesonet sites across the county reported winds gusting over 58 MPH for over 17 hours, including a personal weather station in Yuma that recorded an 80 MPH gust. Dispatch also reported trees had been blown down in Yuma.
Wider weather episode
A low pressure system entered eastern Colorado on the 6th and quickly moved east. There was a steep pressure rise as the low was leaving the area through the 7th. These sharp changes in pressure caused winds to gust up to 69 MPH near Yuma.
