Freezing temperatures were observed over most of southwest Indiana during the early morning hours on the 6th. The lowest temperature recorded was 28 degrees in Gibson and Pike counties. An area of high pressure allowed for mostly clear skies and calm winds. Any unprotected crops, vegetation, shrubs, and trees were late enough in the growing season to be impacted by the freezing temperatures. Communities had also began turning on outdoor sprinkler irrigation systems for the warm season.
