Spencer storm history

Numerous roads in Spencer County were covered with water as a result of torrential rainfall through the morning hours on the 7th. Roadway coverage increased late morning as water began to drain. Reports were relayed of 5.7 inches of rain in Reo and 5 inches of rain in Chrisney.

Thunderstorm winds knocked down a couple of trees to the west of Chrisney.

Roads were submerged south of Richland City, including portions of CR 150 South and CR 900 W at W 70 N. Radar estimated rainfall was 2-3 during the afternoon, with most of the rain falling within 90min.

Significant flash flooding occurred in Rockport due to hourly rainfall totals reaching radar estimated amounts of 2-2.5 in and around Rockport. The report was relayed on social media.

Floodwaters were slow to recede in and around Rockport following the torrential rainfall that added up to radar estimated totals of 2.5-4 during the afternoon.

Quarter size hail occurred just west of Reo.

Minor flooding of agriculture land and surrounding low-lying areas occurred near Owensboro. The river briefly reached the moderate flood level of 44 feet on the 21st into the 22nd.

Heavy rainfall (up to 3) on the evening of the 15th into early the 16th lead to the closure of State Highway 545 south of St Meinrad by early afternoon on the 16th. Numerous county roads were also impassable at that time.

A tree was downed by thunderstorm winds east of Dale on IN-62.

A few trees were downed near the Rockport area as storms moved east-southeastward through Spencer County, including along County Rd 500.

A localized enhanced thunderstorm downburst resulted in a barn roof being blown off and several trees downed near E County Rd 1200 N.
