A winter storm brought widespread snowfall to southwest Indiana beginning on the morning of the 10th. The initial round of snow was light to moderate; however, wrap around moisture associated with an area of low pressure caused a heavier burst of snow across the entire region before snow tapered off to lingering flurries that evening. Peak accumulations ranged from 2 to 4 inches of snow, with the highest amounts near Evansville in Vanderburgh County, Indiana. During the daylight hours, temperatures mainly in the 20s only allowed for limited snow melt on treated roadways. Schools were cancelled in most counties. Numerous slide offs, cars in ditches and crashes had occurred due to treacherous road conditions. A semi jackknifed in the 3500 block of West Mill Road in Vanderburgh County, Indiana, blocking the road. A flipped vehicle was also seen on Wortman Road near Old State Road, but no injuries were reported. Another vehicle had careened into a pond near North Royal Avenue, but the driver only ended up with a wet ankle after being rescued by first responders. A crash in Gibson County, Indiana caused Highway 41 to shut down at 225 North. Overall, over 30 crashes had occurred in the Evansville area alone.
