2024-04-06 · Edwards, Illinois
Wider weather episode
Freezing temperatures were observed over most of southern Illinois during the early morning hours on the 6th. The lowest temperature recorded was 26 degrees in Jefferson county. An area of high pressure allowed for mostly clear skies and calm winds. Any unprotected crops, vegetation, shrubs, and trees were late enough in the growing season to be impacted by the freezing temperatures. Communities had also began turning on outdoor sprinkler irrigation systems for the warm season.
