Blizzard in Western Arctic Coast, Alaska

Blizzard conditions developed during the late morning hours on March 31st at Point Hope (PAPO). Wind gusts to 47 mph were reported, accompanied by falling now. This resulted in blizzard conditions developing. Conditions improved during the evening hours of March 31st.

A strong low moved from the North Pacific to Bristol Bay to the Interior and the North Slope. This low tightened the pressure gradient across the Alaska Range resulting in high winds in the Eastern Alaska Range and blizzard conditions along the West Coast. Blizzard conditions at Kotzebue continued into the morning hours of April 1st.
