Wider weather episode
A strong spring storm system brough rain and strong winds across much of western South Dakota. Across the higher elevations of the northern Black Hills, mainly above 5500 feet, temperatures were cold enough for heavy, wet snow to accumulate. The highest elevations from Terry Peak to O'Neill Pass, and Rochford saw 6 to over 12 inches of accumulation, with near 18 inches at O'Neill Pass. Power outages were reported due to the heavy, wet snow and gusty winds.
