Event narrative

The COOP observer in Pollock estimated that 60 mph wind gusts had knocked down the north doors of the Dairy Farmers of America building.

Wider weather episode

A cold front moving northwest to southeast helped support strong to severe storms that mainly generated high winds, with a peak wind gust of 90 mph at the Grand River Remote Automatic Weather Station (RAWS) situated 11 miles south of the community of Bullhead. Additional wind gust resulted in damage to grain bins and power poles 2 miles north northwest of, and 3 miles northwest of Sand Lake Wildlife Refuge respectively. Shingle damage was reported at a residence 2 miles east of Eureka and thunderstorm winds also resulted in local brownout conditions 8 miles east northeast of Frederick.
