Event narrative

D2 Severe Drought conditions persisted across all of northern Cass County for most of the month before becoming confined to the western half of the northern part of the county with the update on the 30th. Precipitation for the month was around 0.75-1.25 inches above normal, with much of it falling during the latter half of the month.

Wider weather episode

D2 Severe Drought conditions persisted across parts of Koochiching, Itasca, Cass, Crow Wing and Aitkin counties to begin April. Rainfall over the latter half of the month led to a reduction in the area of D2 Severe Drought with the update on the 30th leading to the removal of D2 Severe Drought across Crow Wing and Aitkin counties. Precipitation for the month ended up around 0.25-0.75 inches above normal, highest across the southern portion of the region.
