D2 Severe Drought persisted across the far eastern reaches of the county to start the month with a small reduction in this area with the update on the 23rd. No additional changes were observed over the last few weeks of the month. Precipitation for the month was near to slightly below normal with much of it falling during the latter half of the month.

Wider weather episode

Drought conditions persisted across parts of northwestern Wisconsin during the month of April. Areas of D2 Severe Drought covered parts of Iron and Ashland counties at the beginning of the month with a slight reduction across Ashland and Iron counties with the update on the 23rd. No additional changes were seen over the remainder of the month. Precipitation for the month was near to slightly below normal for the month, but what did fall occurred over the latter half of the month.
