Event narrative

A trained spotter along the Chilkat Peninsula reported 10 inches of light and fluffy snow fell between 10pm on the 5th and 1145am on the 6th. Snow continued through the next morning with another 10 inches reported by the same spotter by 10am on the 7th. During the same period, the Haines COOP in town measured 15 inches, while the Customs station measured 4 inches.

Wider weather episode

Dry snow fell across the panhandle as a frontal band moved through. NW drainage flow caused the snow to stack up in Haines over a 36 hour period.
