Event narrative

April started with the entire zone in Extreme(D3) drought, but by the end of the month, the northwest portion had improved to Severe(D2) drought. The Cooperative Observer in Antelope Wells reported 0.48 inches of precipitation which was 0.33 inches above normal.

Wider weather episode

A slightly wetter than normal April helped to improve conditions in the far southwest, but elsewhere drought conditions remained consistent from the end of March.
