Event narrative

Public reported winds in Smoky Valley that were strong enough to knock down 5 power poles between Carvers and Hadley on Route 376 north of Tonopah. They estimated the gust around 2:15 pm local time because that's when the power went out. Another Samaritan reported that they recorded a 64 mph gust, their neighbors tree blew down, and that there was damage to a barn. Quima Peak Raws site, Elevation 7984 feet, located within 25 miles of Carvers, NV reported wind gusts of 50-57 mph between 2 and 3 PM. The winds would however get stronger later on, where the same site measured a 64 mph wind gust at 7:11 PM.

Wider weather episode
