An approaching cold front, touched off two areas of thunderstorms across western and north central Nebraska during the late afternoon hours over northwestern Nebraska. This activity migrated east into the evening hours producing golf ball sized hail in northern Cherry and northern Rock counties. Later in the evening, a second area of thunderstorms developed in Lincoln county and became severe with half dollar sized hail reported just east of North Platte.
