Event narrative

Wind gust was recorded on a personal weather station via Weatherflow near the Croatan and Roanoke Sounds as thunderstorms were moving through.

Wider weather episode

A cold front tracked eastwards across North Carolina while at the same time low pressure tracked northeastwards along this cold front the morning of March twenty-eighth. As this occurred a line of strong to severe thunderstorms developed across the Coastal Plain and quickly tracked eastwards as well impacted the waters from Onslow Bay northeastwards into portions of the Neuse and Bay Rivers as well as the Croatan Sound with thunderstorms bringing damaging winds to these waters. Thunderstorm activity quickly pushed away from the area by mid morning.
