Buoy station IRDT2 South Bird Island, TX measured wind gusts of 39 to 40 mph.

An approaching cold front led to a couple rounds of strong marine thunderstorms across the northwestern Gulf of Mexico during the morning hours of the 16th and then again during the morning and evening hours of the 17th. A strong supercell passed over north of Port Aransas on the morning of the 21st.
