Event narrative

Based of storm survey path, a tornado which initially touched down near Verona became a waterspout as it crossed the New River south of Came Lejeune.

Wider weather episode

Isolated thunderstorms developed across the Coastal Plain along a surface trough and tracked eastwards. These storms impacted the far southern waters along the New River and Onslow Bay bringing waterspouts, damaging wind, and hail to the area.
